The Most Engaging Event in the Mexican Caribbean Is Back

Carnival season welcomes its return to this renowned cruise destination of Cozumel after a two-year hiatus. This colorful fiesta will turn this spectacular island into a giant party in May—and yes, you're invited. This time, there will be events spread out over four weekends with live music, fun for children and adults, large-scale activities, parades, and more.

For centuries, the people of Cozumel have donned costumes and masks to engage in a tradition called "Carnival", offering onlookers a glimpse into the heart of Cozumel's history, culture, and identity. From May 18 to May 25, 2022, you're invited to take part in the main events of this traditional celebration filled with dance, musical presentations, and of course, food.

This year, the carnival will feature a grand fiesta with seven days of contests, dances, and activities for the whole family, in addition to international music from reggaeton and merengue stars, who will perform on the main stage of Quintana Roo Park, near the Malecón. Additionally, you can enjoy the presentation and coronation ceremony of the carnival king and queen.

May 18: Coronation, and a performance by the Cozumel Symphonic Orchestra

May 21: Margarita, the Goddess of Cumbia

May 22: Yuri

May 23: Pilo Tejeda and his White Band

May 24: Carlos Vives

If that weren't enough, the carnival will finish on a high, with runners rejoicing in a race around this magnificent island in the “Paint and Run 5K 2022”, which will take place on Monday, May 23—all for a good cause, and the perfect send off for this grand fiesta!
